Miley Cyrus recently discussed her latest single “Malibu” during an interview with Radio Disney. She also shared her audition experience for the role of Hannah Montana back in 2005. The singer visited the same building where she had to register her attendance at the age of 12 for the audition. She sang a song called “We’re Going to the Beach,” which she had written with her father’s friend. The ditty expressed leaving Nashville for the beach as a form of paradise and home. Miley fondly remembers the audition process, and it holds a special place in her heart.
Miley Cyrus is currently promoting her newest single, “Malibu,” which is set to be part of her sixth studio album. What’s interesting is that Cyrus, who was raised on a farm in Nashville, never thought she’d end up living in Malibu by the ocean. It’s ironic that she’s releasing this song after almost 15 years, as it goes against her background. In an interview with Billboard, Cyrus shared that her relationship with fiancé Liam Hemsworth, whom she now lives with in Malibu, partly inspired the song. Recently, Gary Marsh, President and Chief Creative Officer of Disney Channels Worldwide, shared an old clip of Cyrus singing “We’re Going to the Beach,” the song she referred to in her recent interview.
When Miley Cyrus auditioned for Hannah Montana, it was like destiny as she wore a T-shirt that said “I should have my own TV show.” Her portrayal of the lead character for four seasons, who led a double life as a regular girl and a famous pop star, was a huge success. Although the show ended in 2011, Miley is making a comeback with her latest hit single “Malibu” and is scheduled to perform at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards on May 21. Fans can listen to her full interview on Radio Disney on Wednesday, May 17 at 2:00 p.m., PT/ 5:00 p.m., ET on Radio Disney and the Radio Disney app.
